Alex is a 13-year-old boy with a personality just as big as his heart. This well-rounded kid has recently has been accepted to the honors program at his school in spite of the trials he’s faced. Alex has lymphoblastic lymphoma, a quickly-spreading cancer that halts production of blood cells and makes Alex extremely susceptible to infection. But after two years of chemotherapy and radiation, Alex was to be a kid again. When he got the chance to choose a wish, he decided he wanted a shopping spree more than anything. Soon Alex and his family were off to his favorite stores to share an amazing day. At a music store, Alex headed straight to the percussion area to get the drum set of his dreams. He practiced right there in the store, and we can only imagine how much he’s been banging away at home! More fun shopping also netted some more stuff every 13-year-old boy would covet: both an Xbox 360 and a Sony PSP! Alex’s mother told us that the noise level in their house had gone up quite a bit but she wouldn’t trade anything for the smile on his face when he bought the drum set that day.
