The campus at Berry College has seen many events over the years, but on this day, it served as the perfect backdrop for the event of a lifetime. Six-year-old Isabelle, or “Belle,” suffers from Gorham’s disease, otherwise known as “vanishing bone disease.” This is a rare medical condition that causes bones in the body to virtually disappear. Belle loves Disney princesses - so much so, that she has several pets named after them! So when Make-A-Wish® volunteers visited Belle to help determine her most heartfelt wish, she knew right away that she wanted to have a princess-themed birthday party. In a ball gown fit for a fairy-tale afternoon, Belle arrived at her party in a horse-drawn carriage, escorted by her schoolyard friend, Luke. Trumpeters announced her arrival, and ballerinas put on a special performance for the Royal Court. Over 100 guests participated in the event, celebrating Belle’s opportunity to have her most heartfelt wish come true. Jewelers for Children partnered with Ford, Gittings & Kane Jewelers of Rome, Georgia, to donate Belle’s tiara as well as magnificent presents to complete her wish experience. Make-A-Wish would like to thank Jewelers for Children for their sponsorship and participation in sharing the power of a wish®. This marked a birthday celebration that Belle will certainly cherish for years to come.
