Make-A-Wish Wish Granting Volunteer Training
Thursday, June 21st, 2012 Make-A-Wish® Volunteers Needed!
You can share the power of a wish® by becoming a volunteer with Make-A-Wish® Georgia & Alabama.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. There are nearly 200 children waiting for their wishes to be granted in Alabama alone, and volunteers are needed to create, design, implement and raise funds and awareness for these wishes.
We are specifically looking for new volunteers in Birmingham, Alabama and surrounding areas to help local children who are waiting for their most heartfelt wish to be granted.
What: Wish Granting Volunteer training – specifically for volunteers interested in becoming Wish Granters and working directly with our children and their families
When: Sunday, July 15th 12 noon – 4pm
Where:
Hyatt Place Inverness
4686 Highway 280 East
Birmingham, Alabama 35242
**Wish Granting volunteers must be 21 years of age or older and complete a background check prior to beginning volunteering.**
Pre-registration is REQUIRED in order to attend. Registration will be open until 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 12th. Please contact Deirdre Trevett, Volunteer Manager: dtrevett@ga-al.wish.org or 770.916.9474 x14.
At the trainings, interested parties will learn about Make-A-Wish® and how we grant wishes. Once trained, volunteers have the opportunity to make a special wish, such as a trip to Disney World, a shopping spree or an opportunity to become a police officer come true.
