ATLANTA - Make-A-Wish Georgia is proud to announce that the annual Walk For Wishes event is now coming to LaGrange on Saturday, August 15, 2015. The event will take place at Granger Park located on Highland Ave. Walk For Wishes West Georgia as it will be called will raise funds to help make the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions come true.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the beginning of the walk at 9 a.m. The goal is to raise $50,000 to benefit Make-A-Wish Georgia which would help make the heartfelt wishes of five local children a reality. Each walk participant that raises $100 will receive a commemorative Walk For Wishes t-shirt.
Participants will have an opportunity to hear unique wish stories from wish ambassadors like Edwina, who had her wish granted last year to meet her favorite band. This is just one of the 430 wishes that were granted in Georgia during 2014. With over 600 Georgia children waiting for their wishes to be granted, stories like Edwina’s will help the community realize that their dollars raised will help make a significant impact.
For the past ten years, Make-A-Wish Georgia has hosted a Walk For Wishes event in Atlanta, raising close to $1 million since its inception. Over the past two years the walk has been expanding with additional events in Athens, Carrolton and most recently Augusta. This year alone, the Walk For Wishes campaign has had an impact of over $450,000 throughout the state.
With the number of wishes rising, Make-A-Wish is in immediate need of local financial support to help make the wishes of the over 600 children still waiting a possibility.
