In 2006, Harrison was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. HLHS is a heart condition where the left side of the heart is critically underdeveloped and can not function on it's own without surgery.
By the age of five, Harrison had gone through four open heart surgeries and countless medical procedures. At times, we felt like it was torture for Harrison to endure all this at such a young age. No child should have to go through that.
Though there were lots of tears, pain and sleepless nights, Harrison handled it with a very positive attitude which was encouraging to us all.
"There's No Limit to What You Can Dream"
Then we read about Make-A-Wish Georgia during one of our hospital stays and months later we were told Harrison would become a “wish kid”. Make-A-Wish told Harrison that, “there's no limit to what you can dream.”
Though that's hard to imagine, in 2013 we watched Harrison's wish to have a tree house come true!
Being a wish recipient, we all have experienced this joy first hand.
We have all been inspired by what a significance it is to have a wish granted. It's very powerful and amazing to watch your child so incredibly happy that they literally shine.
To have thousands of volunteers and donations made by individuals for a child they don't know causes such a profound feeling.
We can continue to support Make-A-Wish Georgia by helping them grant other wishes to children that desperately need to feel the happiness and importance that our children felt on the day their wish came true.
A Walk For Wishes Ambassador
Our son Harrison has been asked to be a wish ambassador for the annual Walk for Wishes Atlanta on Saturday, April 23 at Philips Arena. I hope that you will consider joining us for the walk and collecting donations for all these amazing kids.
Bring your friends and neighbors to join in this fun family event. Make-A-Wish Georgia wants to grant the wish of every eligible child and we have the opportunity to help in that vision! Help us make us make someones dream come true!
