Oliver Becomes a News Reporter

Oliver on air for his wish to be a reporter

“ I couldn't have imagined a better experience! ”

- Oliver, wish child

Oliver is an inquisitive teenager who wanted to learn more about how the "behind the scenes" aspects of broadcast news worked. Make-A-Wish gave him that opportunity, when they helped transform him into a news reporter for a day!

Oliver is an inquisitive fourteen-year-old who loves soccer, reading Harry Potter, and playing video games.  Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with pineal germinoma, a type of germ cell based tumor located in the pineal region of the brain.  His condition has not stopped him from dreaming, however.  When Make-A-Wish® volunteers explored what Oliver wanted to wish for, he immediately responded that he wanted to try his hand at being a news reporter!  Oliver spent the day at the CBS Atlanta news station, where he was introduced to the staff.  After the morning meeting and a tour of the news room, Oliver headed out to the field for some interview training with Pothole Harry.  Oliver was also able to present the weather in front of the green screen and did an on-air interview with Fredi Gonzalez of the Atlanta Braves!  It was a
once-in-a-lifetime experience that Oliver will never forget.
