A Lithonia girl had just one wish when she met with her Make-A-Wish Georgia wish granting volunteers; she wanted to be a fashion designer.
For 14-year-old Zaire, her wish of showing her very own fashion line on a runway has been a dream she’s hoped for since she was a little girl.
The eighth grader who for over a year battled osteosarcoma, a cancer that develops in the cells that form bones, focused frivolously on her designs as a distraction to the endless doctor visits, hospitalizations, and chemotherapy.
As the leading wish granting organization in Georgia, Make-A-Wish Georgia knew that this wish was one that they couldn’t accomplish without the community’s help. The resources that it would take to grant Zaire’s heartfelt wish of designing and showing her line to a live audience would require a full-production moment—including the design of outfits, the securing of venue, models, the creation of her logo, and the execution of a lively show.
With the aid of the Atlanta community who has rallied behind her, Zaire’s wish of being a Fashion Design will finally come true on Saturday, April 23rd, 6:30pm – 9pm at Tongue & Groove in Lindbergh City Center. Produced by Triple Crown Group on a pro-bono basis, Zaire will showcase her line with a full-production, high-end launch.
Zaire’s fashion show debuts her clothing line Embellished Rebel—a line focused on creating leisure clothing that are comfortable, yet stylish. These sweatshirt and jogger- style creations give teens battling cancer a chic and comfy outfit to wear to the hospital.
Along with Triple Crown Group, companies like Poshe Production, Le Fashion Lab and Lisa Mariesa are just a few other in-kind community partners that have helped make this wish possible.
With the average costs of a wish being $10,000; the savings created by these generous community partners will make it possible for Make-A-Wish Georgia to work towards granting even more wishes to children living with life-threatening medical conditions in our local community.
