In its twentieth year, Tournament of Wishes raised over $300,000 in support of Make-A-Wish Georgia on Monday, enough money to grant the wishes of 30 local children.
Presented by World Financial Group, the charity golf tournament was held for a second consecutive year at the beautiful Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga. The dedication to wishes was ever present as participants swung and putted through the rain.
Close to 100 golfers, representing 27 companies, participated in this year’s milestone event and enjoyed a post-tournament reception at the Ritz-Carlton hotel on the resort grounds.
“As our chapter’s longest-standing event, Tournament of Wishes has been raising support for local wishes for more than two decades,” said Make-A-Wish Georgia CEO, Tim Earley. “Over those 20 years, Tournament of Wishes has raised over $1.5 million to make the wishes of local Georgia children a reality.”
Four local wish families were on hand to greet the golfers and cheer them on at several holes. George, who is fighting leukemia, wished to go to Hawaii; Andrew, who has Dravet Syndrome, wished to go to Disney World; Tucker, who suffers from MPS disease, wished to have a playset; and Brayden, who is living with heart abnormalities, wished to go on a Disney Cruise.
With an average wish cost of over $10,000, Tournament of Wishes will help bring a wish to life for 30 local children. There are currently more than 750 children waiting for their wishes to be granted in the state of Georgia.
