Make-A-Wish Georiga thrives on the local and national partnerships with organizations that not only grant the wishes of wish children, but continue the relationships with wish families after the wish. These organizations provide various opportunities for more fun and adventures for wish families. One of these partnerships is with Six Flags Over Georgia and Park President, Dale Kaetzel.

On Saturday, August 22, 2015, Six Flags Over Georgia hosted 25 wish children and their families for a “shadow day.” Each wish child was partnered with an employee of the park. They spent time with them learning the ins and outs of their job, and assisting with any tasks. The various children’s jobs were paramedics, train conductors, safety inspectors, mechanics, retailers, and a few lucky kids even got to be Park President with Mr. Kaetzel.

There was of course some play built into the work day, like riding rides and playing games. A much deserved lunch was treated to the kids where they were given superhero capes and a character bobble head. Lunch wrapped up when the kids had a meet and greet with the characters of the park. Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird and even Bugs Bunny made an appearance.

The day concluded with the announcement that Six Flags Over Georgia would be partnering with Make-A-Wish Georgia for the First Annual Coasting for Wishes Event that will be held on opening day of the park in March 2016.

Make-A-Wish Georgia is grateful for the continuing partnership with Dale Kaetzel and Six Flags Over Georgia and excited to see what the future holds.
