Being a wish granting volunteer is an incredibly rewarding experience

Brooke Lambert
We recently had a Q&A session with one of our current wish granting volunteers: Brooke Lambert.

What is it like working with Make A Wish Georgia?

Working with Make-A-Wish Georgia is one of the best things I've ever done. Getting to know these sweet kids and hearing about what they want to wish for is so much fun. I haven't been working with Make-A-Wish Georgia long, but I've been trying to get involved with anything I can in my community. I can't wait to do more!

How long have you been involved?

I actually just got started volunteering in September 2015. It hasn't been long, but I'm working with my third wish kid now.

What is the most rewarding thing?

The excited faces of the wish kids is so rewarding. Seeing the parents while they're looking at their kids when the wish kid makes their wish or figures out it's granted is just as rewarding.

What would you say to others wanting to get involved?

Do it! Every kid, parent, sibling and family is so thankful for you we do and when they say thank you it is so heart warming! They truly mean it and it is so sweet.

What is the process to get registered as a volunteer?

You have to apply and have a background check first. After all of that is approved, there is a training seminar where you learn about all of the paperwork and wish visits. After that, you're set to go and start granting wishes!
