Kennedi is an energetic and creative six-year-old girl, who loves painting her nails, dancing and Disney princesses. After being diagnosed with leukemia at the age of two, Kennedi underwent three years of chemotherapy before finally going into remission.
After this difficult battle, she was ecstatic to be granted her wish to go to Disney World where she could relax and just be a kid again.
A Magical Welcome
Kennedi and her family were transported to a magical world of sunshine and happiness from the moment they arrived at the Give Kids The World Village®, a special resort exclusively for kids with critical illnesses and their families. She spent time splashing in the pool, racing through the playground and getting pampered at the spa.
A special moment for the entire family came when they visited the Star Tower at the Village. Kennedi placed a star among a sky filled with the names of all of the wish kids who had previously stayed at the Village. Martese, Kennedi’s mom, said she was “brought to tears” at the sight of all the kids like Kennedi who had been impacted through Make-A-Wish®.
The Undersea Encounter
While in Florida, Kennedi got the chance to ride wild roller coasters at Universal Studios, see penguins at Sea World, and to see Cinderella’s castle for the first time. Kennedi’s most magical memory from the trip was riding the Journey of the Little Mermaid ride at the Magic Kingdom and having a one-on-one conversation with Ariel about being a mermaid to dinglehoppers! These special moments gave Kennedi joy, strength and memories that she and her family will remember for years to come.
