KALEE'S ONE TRUE WISH
The soft-spoken 16-year-old has always been interested in travel, cooking, and all things anime. “She loves learning about different cultures,” said her wish volunteer. So when Kalee qualified for a wish it only made sense to go to Tokyo.
In June, Kalee, her mom, and her two older brothers packed their bags and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. Their journey began with a pilot’s welcome and a tour of the cockpit of the plane. Kalee and her family got VIP treatment everywhere they went.
A WEEK FULL OF MEMORIES
The first thing on their itinerary was a tour of the city where they enjoyed some of the famous landmarks and traditional foods. They spent the next two days exploring Tokyo’s famed animation industry. Starting at the Maid Café, Kalee and her family got to step into the anime world as they enjoyed fun Japanese cuisine. Exploring unique art, and interactive exhibits, their next stop was the Ghibli museum. This indoor/outdoor attraction features work from the animation icon, Studio Ghibli. The adventure continued with a tour of the Tsukiji Fish Market, a dream come true for any sushi lover.
A TRIP TO LAST A LIFETIME
They spent their last day within lush Japanese gardens, walking around the streets of the city and trying a few new foods before they left. “This trip was exactly what Kalee dreamed of,” said Brenda, Kalee’s mom. For Kaylee, this trip was a wonderful way to celebrate finishing treatment, and just how much she had conquered.
