A Cancer Diagnosis
In 2015, at the age of 10, Ruby was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that develops in the soft muscle tissue. Cancer took a lot from, Ruby. However, the one thing that the illness could never rob her of was her love of dance.
Reminiscing about recitals and fun times with friends helped her grow strong in her fight. When she received the opportunity to have her wish revealed, there was no question that what Ruby wanted was her very own dance studio.
With the help of community partner, Sunshine on a Ranney Day, Ruby’s wish to have her basement transformed into a dance studio became a reality.

Finding Her Strength
On the day of the reveal, a local dance group was in attendance to entertain Ruby and her family with a dance choreographed just for the special occasion. Coy Bowles of the Zac Brown Band was also there to present with a guitar signed by the band.
Today, Ruby is celebrating being cancer free and is using her studio to focus on her next dream — becoming a professional dancer. Dance has given Ruby the strength to beat cancer and her wish has given Ruby the hope to know that a brighter future is ahead!
